Today i found 5 new cats in my neighbourhood! I dont know to be happy or not :P however they didn't really like me so i didn't take much photos of them.. except for one of them, which i will post up on another occassion.

People wonder why I take photos of cats.. Well, I started off when I made friends with a couple of photography people on some forum.. they brought me to take photos of cats and then i got hooked! Cats have really very beautiful eyes and features if you really take a good look at them. Although they don't globber their saliva over you like how dogs do, their affection can be felt sometimes by how they approach you each time you meet them :)

Cats are really beautiful subjects, but of course sometimes i'd rather shoot photos of people :P just that no one offer to be my model! :P

2 nights ago..this kitten sat outside my door at 1am.. had to bring it down to the ground floor before i can enter my home safely. For a few weeks it has been trying to follow me home.. however it is quite scary to see it outside my door (for the first time) 2 nights ago!

thank goodness it wasnt there last night when i reached home from work.

strangely, it never ate anything i gave. so i guess what it really might want is just company and affection.

Just like us humans.

anyway, in this photo i played with the tones and textures cus the original photo was super grainy (when i attempted to overexpose the photo a bit to brighten up the kitten's image) x)

Not a good shot. Not a good edit on adobe lightroom and photoshop (yes i use both to edit my photos lol.) But i still like this photo very much because it shows the playfulness of the cat :) the true side of the cat. Not something put up as a facade.

They say, 'All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely
players'.. this quote i truly agree, for many put on masks and play a role entirely different from who they really truly are.

But the question is... when can this act come to an end? when can these masks we don on be finally put aside?

Sometimes i see children laughing, crying, making honest comments... i can't help but to feel a little envious of them. They're able to show their true genuine side, and say words from their hearts. We grow old and we forget ourselves. We mould our opinions in accordance to what is socially accepted, and keep our comments to ourselves in order to survive in this competitive world we live in. Insincere smiles, half-hearted handshakes... it seems like these are what we get more capable of as we age.

Shut your eyes

I was amazed that this stray cat actually attempt to sleep in our (my friends and i) presence.. most cats, on our first encounter with them, keep their eyes open because they fear us. Well.. not exactly fear but maybe, wary? This cat, only meeting her for the first time, actually tries to sleep when we were like a few cm away from her. Kind of make me reflect a little (haha i'm quite a thinker :P)..

Humans are just like normal cats. On first encounter with others, we stay wary, judgemental. We dare not show people into our comfort zone. That's how people, unless prolonged interaction, remain at distance with one another. Unless we bring people into our comfort zone, like how this cat in the photo did, it's hard to make a lasting impression on others... because like many others, we remain emotionally distant.

Not sure if i made sense.. any contrasting thoughts feel free to express it on my tagboard :)

Thanks to Kristen, Bingjian and Vivien for making these photos possible.
Quite a memorable 'photoshoot': 4 of us looking like idiots (esp 3 of them cus they had paint all over their tshirts haha) under void decks and happily letting the mosquitoes feast on me and vivien's blood.

I finally received my olympus XA2 from ebay. Got it without the flash at USD 38.. so about SGD 50+. Rather costly compared to what some ppl got theirs for, but i still think it's really cheap compared to the prices people are selling now (freaking 125SGD can you believe it!). Took my camera to do a test roll when i went down to haji lane with my friends.. Oh one thing i kept forgetting is to adjust the zone focus knob whenevr i slide the lens open D: so this resulted in some blur shots which im not going to post :o

I didn't think, and i just shot these photos.I didn't think, and i opened the back without rewinding my film. Thank goodness i didnt lose many frames. In fact, i guess it only made my photos look a lil foggy D:

tried to solve the tilt problem too but cant. cus the pavement's line and the ceiling's line are not parallel =/
